Image & Branding

  • Are Unique Value Propositions established?
  • Does the site establish credibility and trust?
  • Is the site professionally designed and written?
  • Is the site’s purpose and areas of business obvious?
  • Does the site boost goodwill by knowing what customers want?

Architecture & Navigation

  • Are all sections of the site organized in a similar fashion?
  • Are links grouped by popularity?
  • Is navigation simple, intuitive and consistent?
  • Is the site structure well-organized and easy to understand?
  • Is content organized into logical groups?

User Friendliness

  • Are product descriptions accurate and concise?
  • Are repeat visitors treated differently than new visitors?
  • Can users skim & scan all the text?
  • Depth of Information – Is the site a useful resource?
  • Can users adjust font sizes?

Page Layout & Design

  • Are pages compliant with eye-tracking principles?
  • Is the most important information above the fold?
  • Is the purpose of each page clear?
  • Is the site professionally designed?
  • Do pages display properly no matter the screen resolution?

Persuasion & Conversion

  • Are there calls to action?
  • Are you encouraging referrals?
  • Does the site qualify its visitors?
  • Is the copy expressly written for the web?
  • Does the site build shopper confidence?

Copy writing

  • Are there strong calls to action on every page?
  • Does the copy stress benefits, not features?
  • Is the language and voice suitable for your audience(s)?
  • Is the text scannable?
  • Are keywords woven into the copy?

Shopping Cart

  • Are items easily added or removed?
  • Are third party reinforcement messages used (BBB, Verisign)?
  • Do you offer alternative payment options?
  • Is the transaction process easy to navigate?
  • Do you offer assurances (i.e. privacy, security, return policy)?

Technical & Functional

  • Are site page-sizes optimized for fast downloading (<100K)?
  • Does the site work with multiple operating systems?
  • Is the site multi-browser compliant?
  • Are all forms working properly?

Search Engine Appeal

  • Are alt and meta tags used consistently?
  • Are incoming and outgoing links optimized?
  • Are keywords included and used properly?
  • Are page titles properly optimized?
  • Do page titles make sensible bookmark names?
